About the artist

Hello my name is Phoenyx, I’m 19 years old Cree/Métis from Kehewin Cree Nation. My sewing journey started shortly after my mosum’s passing, when our kokum gifted my family our first matching ribbon skirts and shirt. My heart was so full. As we were driving home, my mom looked back at me and said “Would you like to learn how to make ribbon skirts?” my face lit up as she said that, I felt it in my heart that this is what I wanted to do. I had just graduated from high school and was feeling lost. This changed everything, I finally felt like this was my calling. I’m so grateful for my family. Everything I create is made with love and the very best of intentions. Please wear my work with pride for our culture and passion to go out in the world and find your way.
