about the artist

brandon gabriel

Cultural Background: Kwantlen First Nation, Stó꞉lō, Coast Salish, BC


Brandon Gabriel is a member of the Kwantlen First Nation, whose unceded territories include present-day New Westminster, Surrey, Langley, and surrounding communities. He studied Cultural Anthropology, Marketing, and Visual Arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and earned a BFA in Visual Art with a minor in Indigenous Studies from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. He has developed and taught Indigenous-focused curriculum across post-secondary and K–12 institutions, and is currently an Instructor of Indigenous Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
