"For The Love of Ribbon Skirts" Workshop invites you to master this cherished Indigenous art form across two immersive sessions.

Learn the rich history and cultural significance of ribbon skirt making by Jasmyn Albert at the beginning of the class and then you will start creating your own love-inspired piece in signature red, pink, and white palette. Our expert instructor Kari Konchinew will guide you through traditional techniques and modern applications, perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike. 

Classes will be held at our Broadway location (870 Broadway Ave) on January 30th, 4–9 PM CST and January 31st, 10 AM–2 PM CST. All materials included. Reserve your spot and celebrate the artistry and heritage behind this timeless craft.

About the facilitators

Kari Konchinew & Jasmyn Albert

Kari Konchinew is an assistant manager for Wanuskewin Gift Shop, a space where she feels deeply connected to Indigenous culture and art. She has a background in Animal Health and is working to complete her VTNE, Kari volunteers with local organizations that support animal welfare on First Nation reserves. As well as creating ribbon apparel and moccasins - using skills passed down through her family.

Jasmyn Albert is a Plains Cree, Métis, and settler woman from Saskatoon, a mother of five, and an educator who loves sewing and teaching. She has shared her cultural knowledge for over 15 years and continues learning her language while giving back to her community.

Our shops are a not-for-profit organization that have been apart of the Wanuskewin Heritage Park for over 30 years now. With our earnings going back into the park and other organizations such as ones involved in survivors of Residential schools as well as families of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women; we are fortunate and proud to be apart of Treaty 6 Territory.
