About the artist
Sophie S. is a 16-year-old Cree, self-taught beader from Beardy’s and Okemasis' Cree Nation in Saskatchewan. She began beading in early 2022—something she had always wanted to try. After making her first pair of earrings, she instantly fell in love with the craft. Beading quickly became a meaningful outlet, helping her cope with difficult times by offering a positive distraction. Since then, Sophie has created many unique pairs of earrings. Although she knows there's still much to learn, she’s excited to continue growing on this creative journey.

Our shops are a not-for-profit organization that have been apart of the Wanuskewin Heritage Park for over 30 years now. With our earnings going back into the park and other organizations such as ones involved in survivors of Residential schools as well as families of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women; we are fortunate and proud to be apart of Treaty 6 Territory.
