about the artist

Shirley Babcock’s ’s maternal ancestry comes from Dzawada’enuxw First Nation (Kwakwaka’wakw) and Shuneymuxw First Nation (Coast Salish) and her paternal ancestry comes from Acadia (French part of Eastern Canada).  Shirley Babcock began painting as hobby in 2005 and became more interested in art after researching the history and culture of her ancestors.  She opened her art business in February 2012. Shirley creates art in various styles, but uses the basic forms passed down from her ancestors, the mid coast art style.  Her primary medium includes acrylic on canvas and drums.

With our earnings going back into the park and other organizations such as ones involved in survivors of Residential schools as well as families of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women; we are fortunate and proud to be apart of Treaty 6 Territory.
