about the artist

emilie mckinney

She started beading at the age of 13 and then eventually evolved into graphic design in her early 20s. She picked up Plains Anishinaabe style from being back home in her community and often researching ancestral designs, artwork, and surrounding plants in her travels. She is an Old style Jingle Dress dancer and has been dancing ever since she could walk.
